After the London Bombings, St. John Ambulance provided a vital contribution – covering non-terrorist related 999 calls in the London area and home counties as well as assistance the the immediate areas around the incidents. Their work often goes unrecognised – most of the time we’re seen as the strange people sitting in the corner of a field at public events, or the “pouncers” at events like the London Marathon.

This blogger certainly helped raise awareness of the work of St. John. It’s a very interesting and humorous read:

It all went pretty well – had six or so enquries about public first aid courses which kicks off our plans for another course in the autumn, and a fair number of donations – either into the “money spinner” or to our friendly London Marathon runner

We had our friendly County Commissioner, County Commander and Sector Officer turn up to see our presence, along with the Town Mayor and other important people!

Was a good day all in all – and a good use of our new shelter.
