Work
After finishing university, I decided to have a break and rather than get a job immediately (or at least start looking for one) I spent some time working for myself (t/a Hey Presto! Internet Services). This revolved around web site design and development (including ASP and PHP coding), hosting of web sites for a range of clients on Linux and Windows 2003 servers and other Internet based development services. I also do the usual computer support for various friends, family and local small businesses.
I also provided freelance support for web hosting companies including:
- Managing support tickets from customers
- Development of new web sites and customer portals for management of servers, power and network connectivity.
- Development of end-to-end domain registration service 4DReg using PHP and a range of technologies and APIs.
- Management of Windows 2003 hosting servers running IIS, MS SQL, MySQL, Merak Mail, PHP, Perl, ASP, ASP.NET
I now work for Rentokil Initial in Group Information Services as a Technical Architect Systems Analyst. I am an integral part of a team participating in a number of high-profile projects for the various business in the RI group.
I undertake research and development style work in a huge range of areas of IS/IT. Currently I’m implementing Active Directory worldwide and responsible for the deployment of ManageSoft and Kaspersky. Other projects include Citrix, Remote Access and SMS servers. More recently I have been heavily involved in preparing for the pilot of Google Apps as our mail platform and am part of a project to investigate the feasibility and implementation of Virtual Desktops / Server Based Computing.
Along with my day job I also still maintain and enhance a few web sites, including East Grinstead Town Council – which is an award-winning site.
Take a look at my Linked In profile which I try and keep up to date more-so than this section of my web site.
